Dr. Francis Lakor
Senior Consultant Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon | Health Leader | Educator
Dr. Francis Lakor is a highly accomplished Ugandan oral and maxillofacial surgeon with over three decades of experience in dental surgery, clinical practice, and health leadership. Currently serving as a Senior Consultant at the Mulago National Referral Hospital, Dr. Lakor also offers expert services at top private medical institutions including International Hospital Kampala, Nakasero Hospital, Nsambya Hospital, and Victoria Hospital. He holds a Master’s Degree in Oral Surgery from Saratov State Medical University in Russia and a Degree in Dental Surgery from the Ukrainian State University of Medicine. Dr. Lakor also has a diploma in Public Health and continues to blend clinical excellence with a strong foundation in public health practice.
As Director of Rela Dental Clinic Ltd since 2014, he has led the expansion of patient-centered oral care, mentoring younger dental professionals and contributing significantly to the private health sector.
Dr. Lakor is widely published in both national and international journals and has presented research at numerous conferences across East Africa. His work on jaw injuries, titanium use in surgery, and trauma patterns from motorcycle accidents has contributed to improved safety and clinical outcomes in Uganda. Dr Lakor pioneered the training of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons at Makerere University.
He is an active member and leader in several professional bodies, including the Uganda Dental Association (where he has served as President and Vice President), the International Association of Dental Research, and AO Craniol Maxillofacial. Dr. Lakor also plays advisory roles on national medical boards, is a chief examiner for Allied Health, and supports community health through NGO boards such as HOPE NORTH.
Passionate about medical education and systems improvement, Dr. Lakor continues to shape Uganda’s dental landscape through his professional service, research, and mentorship.
